K’Lavon Chaisson hails from Houston, Texas, so the sophomore linebacker might not be as in touch with the people of Louisiana as he might be in a couple of years, so when asked if the LSU-Alabama means a lot to him,  he had a surprising answer.

“I’m going to be honest, I’m not from Louisiana so this is like a big game for Louisiana people, I’m guessing,” he said. “I’m not downing it but it is a regular game to me. I’m just happy to be out there playing…  I’m just excited. That’s it.”

Chaisson could especially excited about facing the Crimson Tide for the first time. As a freshman last season, the linebacker suffered an injury in the season opener against Miami and would miss the entire rest of the season. It will, therefore, be his first time facing Tua Tagovalioa, and he expects the Alabama quarterback to be at full strength.

“I’m not going to buy into the whole he can’t do as much as he can possibly do because of the recent procedure he just got worked on,” Chaisson said.

As for making Tagovailoa uncomfortable, Chaisson used a metaphor that anyone who has spent time outside in the South would be able to relate to.

“Just being in his face and being in his presence all day long,” he said. “It’s like a gnat. You keep seeing a gnat bothering you and now you are starting to get aggravated and that’s throwing you off.”

With all the hype going into this game, someone asked him if LSU was out to prove anything to the college football world. After a little laugh, Chaisson explained that it is just about playing LSU football.

“It’s not a hidden agenda we are trying to prove or show the world,” he said. “We know our game. We know how we play and that’s what we are going to do.”
