Kurt Roper explains why South Carolina’s offense is struggling this season

South Carolina’s offensive output in 2015 was both inconsistent and punchless.
Fast-forward to this year, and it’s essentially the same story.
Through six games, South Carolina quarterbacks have thrown only two touchdowns. Running backs are rushing to the tune of a 3.0 yards-per-carry average. On the year, USC is averaging 14 points per game — and have scored more than 14 points only once.
Offensive coordinator Kurt Roper attributes the rather vanilla scheme to two things:

South Carolina has true freshmen and inexperienced players littered all through its depth chart. This year is the first in Will Muschamp’s rebuilding process. Growing pains are to be experienced.
As Roper mentioned, this initial season will be paramount as it pertains to installing the system — and thus getting the players comfortable with it.
