Mixing football and politics usually results in headaches. When Senator Mary Landrieu (D – La.) gets involved, it only ends up in hangovers.

The incumbent senator is currently up for re-election and is down in the polls, so she took to Tiger Stadium to get her face out among her constituents. Landrieu was spotted stopping by tailgates prior to LSU’s game against Mississippi State last Saturday. She wasn’t just shaking hands, though.

That’s Landrieu, helping LSU fans do keg stands at their tailgates. Landrieu told reporters afterwards that it was the first keg stand she’s taken part in. The senator declined to do a keg stand herself, though.

“He wanted me to do it, but I said absolutely not — at least not in front of the national press,” Landrieu told a reporter.

She was asked if she would have done it if it would have won her votes.

“I’m not that desperate.”
