Lane Kiffin was asked at his press conference on Monday whether the SEC has had more consistency and balance between programs this season.

Kiffin agrees that there is parity, but didn’t have a solid answer for supporting it.

“The scores seem like that, in terms of parity,” Kiffin said, noting the number of upsets this season.

Kiffin noted under-the-radar teams are sticking around with teams who are consistently competitive.

“They’ve been around more than they’re used to,” Kiffin said.

Kiffin has heard that if one were to ask coaches and other officials at like Georgia or Alabama, parity exists in the SEC due to those programs losing some second-team players and depth to the transfer portal.

But, Kiffin added: “I don’t know if you could make that argument because those teams also add good players in spots they need help at.”

When it comes down to it, Kiffin said it’s not just about the coaching or the transfer portal.

“A lot of the time you need to look at quarterbacks and quarterback play,” Kiffin said.

Ole Miss (5-1) is coming out of its bye week. On Oct. 7, the Rebels beat Arkansas by a 27-20 score.

The Rebels take on Auburn on Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
