Lane Kiffin and Jaxson Dart are putting up historic numbers as the Ole Miss offense has been absolutely electric after the first 4 weeks of the 2024 college football season.

The Rebels are the first team in SEC history with 600 yards in 4-straight game and their 220 points are the most in school history for the first 4 games of a season.  Ole Miss also has a +198 point differential this season, which is the best in SEC history for that time span.

After 4 games against less-talented opponents, Dart appears to be a frontrunner for the Heisman trophy. The Rebels’ starting QB already has 1,554 passing yards and 12 touchdowns this season. He’s added another 90 yards and 3 touchdowns as a runner.

On Saturday, Ole Miss will have its first SEC test of the season when Kentucky comes to Oxford. In his Monday press conference leading up to the game, Kiffin made a point to praise his QB, for his contributions both on and off the field.

I think Jaxson is a wonderful person,” Kiffin said. “I think he treats people really well. He spends a lot of time with kids around here…including my son and nephew. He’s a really great person. On the field there’s a trust level there.”

It’s clear Dart and Kiffin have built chemistry and trust, which is likely one of the main reasons the QB returned to play for Ole Miss another year.

Kiffin pointed out the growth Dart has made since transferring from USC after his freshman season in 2022.

“I think he’s physically improved through a lot of work in all areas…the guy is relentless in his pursuit of being great,” Kiffin continued.

“We give them some time off sometimes during the summer and breaks and he’s usually flying somewhere to go throw. He’s always working to get better.”

If Kiffin and Dart continue the level of success they are having early in 2024 into the rest of the season against elite opponents, Ole Miss has a real chance to win the College Football Playoff championship this year.
