Matt Corral broke out in 2020. Now, the Ole Miss redshirt junior quarterback is building off that early in 2021.
During the Rebels’ 3-0 start, Corral has passed for 997 yards, 9 touchdowns and no interceptions, while also scoring 5 rushing touchdowns. That big start came after he threw for 3,337 yards, 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 10 games last season.
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin isn’t taking Corral for granted. In fact, he praised his QB during an appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Wednesday, noting that he frequently tells others to enjoy watching Corral play while he’s still with the Rebels.
“Well, he may not be the biggest, not the fastest, but he would be up there in his ability to make throws at different arm angles, would probably be better than anyone, of all of them,” Kiffin said on the show. “He’s a very unique talent. We’re very fortunate. I remind our fans, I remind our coaches all the time like, ‘Enjoy this while you have it, because you’re going to wish you had this some day.’ Knock on wood, I mean the guy basically hardly ever misses a throw, and that’s pretty fortunate to be around.”

This week, Ole Miss will likely need another big game from Corral if it hopes to knock off Alabama.
The No. 12 Rebels go on the road to face the No. 1 Crimson Tide on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
