It wasn’t pretty against Tulane on Saturday, but Ole Miss was able to pull away late to get the 37-20 win against a solid team on the road.

Tulane was up 17-10 at the half and it was tied at 17 after 3, but the Rebels made big plays late to pull away for the win.

Jaxson Dart told reporters after the game that this felt like a game that Ole Miss wouldn’t have won last season, and Kiffin agreed with it.

“He probably got that from me, I said that in the locker room,” Kiffin said. “I obviously don’t have analytics to prove that, but I did feel the difference. That may not have happened last year. I felt during the game when the offense was struggling, and the defense’s attitude after the turnover was, “We got you.”

While Ole Miss won this matchup last year 42-0, Kiffin said in today’s college football, teams are so different each year that you don’t have to worry about overconfidence.

“Normally this would be a major issue, but have these guys weren’t here last year on our starting defense,” Kiffin said. “I think nowadays doesn’t mean hardly anything especially in this case. I think the Georgia Tech quarterback is playing well, I think they run a good offense that presents some challenges. I think they look like they are playing better than they were a year ago.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm ET, and this game is before the Rebels head to Tuscaloosa the following weekend.
