Lane Kiffin has carried with him a reputation as a coach with an inability to win big games.

Saturday, though, was as big as they get for Ole Miss as they hosted No. 3 Georgia, and the No. 16 Rebels made it look largely easy: they dominated Bulldogs 28-10.

The scoreboard doesn’t begin to tell the whole story: the Rebels held a 395-245 edge in total offense while holding the Bulldogs to 59 rushing yards. Jaxson Dart gave Rebels fans a scare after exiting briefly, but came back and had a decent game, throwing for 199 yards and a touchdown while running for 50 yards on 8 carries.

Although the Bulldogs attempted to keep the Rebels at arm’s length, the Rebels picked up a massive win, one that will give them a major boost in Tuesday’s second College Football Playoff rankings. The Rebels knew that another loss could knock them out of the picture altogether with games against Florida and Mississippi State coming up.

As for Kiffin, he finally has his “big” win. Of course, there’s one big game at the end of the season (in January) that will be the crowning acheivement of his legacy, but there’s still a long way to go.

Here’s reaction from social media after the win:
