It looks like there may be progress in the assault case involving Alabama DB Deionte Thompson.
Matt Zenitz of AL.com reports Thompson’s lawyer Sean Villery-Samuel has formal statements from several witnesses that claim Thompson was not involved in the incident.
“All of the videos that I have seen and that I’ve been able to get access to doesn’t show (Thompson),” Villery-Samuel said. “We have the numerous witnesses that we’ve given to the district attorney’s office that indicate that he wasn’t involved in this incident at all.”
Villery-Samuel believes it was Thompson’s reputation that led to him being identified as one of the attackers.
“I just think it was a matter of they knew who he was and he was the easiest one to pick out,” explained Villery-Samuel. “We have nothing to hide, and we’re just ready for them to make the right decision and not move forward with the case.”
Thompson appeared in six games as a freshman last season and recorded nine tackles.
