Liberty-Coastal Carolina bowl game had one of the most insane finishes of the season

During the regular season, we didn’t get to see the highly anticipated matchup between Hugh Freeze’s Liberty squad and Jamey Chadwell’s Coastal Carolina crew. That’s because Liberty was dealing with COVID-19 issues.

Instead, Coastal Carolina played BYU that weekend in one of the more entertaining games of the 2020 regular season.

Well, on Saturday night in the Cure Bowl, the Flames and Chanticleers provided one of the most exciting games of bowl season. The game went to overtime, but not without some drama first.

Coastal Carolina was trying to let Liberty score late in order to get the ball back. Instead, as you can see below, Liberty fumbled in bizarre fashion:

In overtime, Coastal Carolina held Liberty to a field goal, but then the Chanticleers had to settle for a field-goal attempt of their own. That’s when Liberty swooped in and won the game with this impressive blocked kick:

What a finish and what a game. Coastal’s undefeated season came to an end in dramatic fashion while Freeze picked up another big victory.

Will any other bowl game outside of the College Football Playoff live up to this one, or have we seen the best the bowls have to offer already?
