Liberty has thanked Hugh Freeze for 4 memorable seasons.

On Monday, Freeze was announced as the next head coach of the Auburn Tigers. Freeze returns to the SEC after spending 4 seasons with the Flames. Liberty football’s Twitter account shared a sideline shot of Freeze, with the words “Thank you, Coach Freeze.”

Freeze compiled a 34-15 record over 4 seasons, and went 3-0 in bowl games. Liberty’s 1st season in the FBS came in 2018, in which the team finished 6-6. After that season, previous coach Turner Gill retired from coaching. In Freeze’s 1st season, the Flames qualified for their 1st bowl game in program history.

Freeze will return to the SEC after having last coached in the conference in 2016 for the Ole Miss Rebels. At Ole Miss, Freeze went 39-25 and 3-1 in bowl games.

Correction: The article has been updated to reflect Turner Gill’s departure was a retirement, not a firing.
