LISTEN: How Kentucky is preparing for the crowd noise at Florida

Kentucky has not beaten Florida in football since 1986, and Ben Hill Griffin Stadium has only gotten harder to play in since then.

Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops seems to know that, and he has been pumping loud crowd noise over the practice fields in Lexington to get his team ready. The Wildcats haven’t beaten the Gators in 32 years, but it has been even longer since the last time Kentucky won in the swamp. The last time that happened was 1979 when Kentucky won 31-3 in a season where Florida went 0-10-1.

Stoops knows his team has a tough challenge ahead, and is taking a fairly common approach to get his team ready for a tough road game.

In week 1, Kentucky pulled away with a 35-20 win over Central Michigan, but it was not terribly convincing. And plenty of questions remain around the quarterback situation. Running back Benny Snell started the year off with 125 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries, and he will look to carry that momentum into playing a Florida team that allowed 222 rush yards against Charleston Southern’s triple option in a 53-6 win.

This is Dan Mullen’s first SEC game as Florida’s head coach, and Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is sure to be rocking.
