Lockdown D: Georgia’s defense accomplishes rare feat eight games into the season

Georgia’s defense has been dominant this season, with the numbers speaking for themselves: the Dawgs are allowing 11.4 points and 268.1 total yards per game.
The Dawgs’ D is even better when it comes to the rush game, as opponents are only gaining an average of 77.63 yards on the ground against Dan Lanning’s squad.
They have been so good against the rush that they have accomplished a rare feat eight games into the season. Georgia became the first team in 20 years to not allow a rushing touchdown through eight games, according to the SEC Network.
That’s even more impressive when you take a look at the teams the Bulldogs have faced. Notre Dame, Georgia’s Week 4 opponent, has rushed for 14 touchdowns so far while Florida has rushed for 13.
That streak will be put to the test, especially next week when the Bulldogs travel to Auburn. The Tigers, through nine games, have 23 rushing touchdowns.
