Longhorns AD Chris Del Conte addresses possibility of bringing back Texas vs. Texas A&M rivalry

Perhaps one of the greatest travesties in all of college football is the fact that Texas and Texas A&M no longer battle on the gridiron.
The Longhorns announced Chris Del Conte as their new athletic director on Monday, and naturally, the question came up, according to a 247Sports report.
Will Del Conte work to return the Texas vs. Texas A&M rivalry?
The new Texas AD apparently said he would look into it.
“I think we’ll look at that,” Del Conte reportedly said. “I don’t have any comment on that today, but I’ll say this. I listened to Coach Brown talk one time on what college athletics is about. It’s about rivalries.
“Rivalries in college athletics are so important. The water cooler conversations on Mondays are awesome. I love the Red River shootout, all that goes on with that OU-Texas game. It is fantastic. Those things are what galvanize. When we stayed in the Big 12, it’s because football and regional rivalries are so important to the community. I know that. I know that it’s important to everybody.”
Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher had this to say at his introductory press conference last week:
“If it benefits Texas A&M, you do things. If it doesn’t, you don’t,” Jimbo Fisher says when asked about possibly playing Longhorns in the future.

The teams last met each other in 2011, a game in which Texas won 27-25.
Hopefully we will all get to see them meet again someday.
