At this point in the offseason, every day seems to produce a new poll or power rankings for the 2016 college football season. This week was no different as USA TODAY Sports’ Danny Sheridan has been publicly discussing his thoughts on the season to come.

Self described as “America’s leading sports analyst and handicapper,” Sheridan has worked for USA TODAY since 1982 and is a 1979 graduate of Alabama.

Sheridan was a Wednesday guest of  Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly and made one bold statement that’s likely to please Tennessee fans.

“There is no probably,” Sheridan said on air. “LSU has probably the best team on paper and Tennessee is right behind them. Like 1 and 1A. Maybe 1 together.”

Sheridan also made a bold prediction for Arkansas, saying the Razorbacks would start the season with a 5-0 record. In doing so, the Hogs would have to win in Fort Worth against TCU in Week 2 and for the first time under Bret Bielema, beat Texas A&M Week 4 in Arlington.

Thursday, Sheridan was a guest of the Paul Finebaum Show and gave his complete SEC power rankings:

Sheridan also shared his thoughts on the Iron Bowl:

If things play out the way Sheridan sees them, LSU and Tennessee would meet in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game, which would be a rematch of the 2007 SEC title game.
