The Iron Bowl rivalry stretches well beyond the game in late November each year. License plate wars run deep, and are often updated by the year and performance on the field.
For some, like this Alabama fan, making sure he labels Auburn “losers” is important, and according to some tailgaters nearby, he believes that the $50 he pays for it is the best money he spends all year.
Of course, this is far from an original idea. Auburn fans have made similar vanity plate purchases in recent years, including one that trolled the Alabama national championship claim. Other Alabama fans have also placed “LOL” and “KILGUS” on their license plates about Auburn.
Given the state of each program and Alabama’s presumed entry into the College Football Playoff, combined with Auburn’s disappointing season under Gus Malzahn with a new contract, and there’s likely more of this to come in the near future.
.@RyanCFowler, the license plate of a Bama fan tailgating nearby yesterday got LOTS of attention. Said it’s the best $50 he spends every year. My brother Mitchell (@TideGuy1966) who calls your show said you’re the only other Bama fan he knows that would like this more. #RollTide pic.twitter.com/BsQUI7QIlD
