LOOK: Quarterback from Michigan Tech may have the best name in college football history
We are less than a week away from the start of major college football in 2018. Our timelines, TVs, and radios have been flooded with hot takes and predictions leading up to the much-anticipated season, trying to decide who is going to win their conference and get into the College Football Playoff.
However, one college football championship has already been decided before most teams have kicked off their first game. Michigan Tech incoming freshman QB Steele Fortress has the best name in college football this year.
Fortress may even have a case for having the best name in college football history.

The dual-threat signal-caller comes from Western High School in Parma, Michigan, where he accumulated over 2,500 all-purpose yards and 28 touchdowns in his senior season, leading his team to a 6-4 overall record.
Oh, and Fortress tacked on 49 tackles, an interception, and a blocked extra point last season as well. It is not known whether or not his parents gave him that name with plans to make him an offensive lineman, but he finished his high school career with multiple D-II offers as a quarterback, and will be playing his collegiate football for the Michigan Tech Huskies.
Michigan Tech is a Division II school that plays in the GLIAC Conference, so you will not see Fortress in the College Football Playoff barring a transfer to a Division I school in his career.
Whether your favorite college football team is poised for a conference championship run, or just aiming for bowl eligibility, it very likely does not have a player with a better name than Steele Fortress.
