LOOK: SEC releases graphic to explain how bowl selection process unfolds

As Selection Sunday arrives this week, there are several decisions to unfold in figuring how each SEC team will end up in a bowl game this season.

Alabama and Georgia open the flow chart as they’re likely headed to either the College Football Playoff, or the Sugar Bowl.

After the CFP, the Citrus Bowl gets the first choice of available SEC teams, and then the SEC office, schools and bowls assign schools to the Music City Bowl, Outback Bowl, Gator Bowl, Belk Bowl, Liberty Bowl and Texas Bowl.

The Birmingham Bowl and Independence Bowl round out the field.

There’s usually a bit of intrigue in this process, and not every bowl assignment always falls the way of the projections leading up to Sunday.

The “College Football Playoff Show” is set to air at noon Eastern on Sunday on ESPN. The following graphic was shared online by the SEC’s Director of Communications Chuck Dunlap on Tuesday:
