Louisiana assistant coach, former Dan Mullen assistant D.J. Looney passes away after team workout

Tragedy has struck the college football world on Saturday, as an FBS assistant coach has died following a heart attack.
The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns announced that OL coach D.J. Looney has died after suffering a heart attack during a team workout.
The school announced the news of Looney’s passing on Twitter. He was only 31 years old:

Per Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger, Looney had ties to the SEC, serving as a graduate assistant to Dan Mullen at Mississippi State. He also graduated from Mississippi State, where he played offensive line, and spent time with Georgia as a grad assistant:

Looney, a Miss. State grad & former GA to Dan Mullen, had spent time at East Miss CC, Central Arkansas and UGA as a GA.
He was 31.
