LSU is having a difficult season, as the Tigers are currently 13-12 and had lost 7 in a row and 10 of 11 before knocking off Oklahoma in Norman in their most recent game. The school did make some headlines when they announced that Matt McMahon would be back next season.

However, McMahon also made an announcement on Monday when the Tigers coach said that Trey’Dez Green would be focusing on academics after having a conversation that included LSU football coach Brian Kelly.

“Just after visiting with Coach Kelly and Trey’Dez, the academic workload is very heavy, so he’s going to be focusing on those academics for the time being and rejoin us at a later date,” McMahon said, per NOLA.com.

The forward has played in 6 games this year and was averaging 1.8 PPG and 1.7 RPG in just under 7 minutes of action per game. His best game was when he played 11 minutes and scored 4 points against Texas

Not only does he play basketball at LSU, but he also plays for the football team. In the Tigers’ bowl win against Baylor, he finished with 6 catches for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns. Managing 1 sport for a college athlete is tough, but McMahon said he has a ton of respect for Green trying to play in 2.
