The 2015 recruiting cycle is barely behind us, but schools like LSU are already on top of the 2016 class. Over the weekend, LSU hosted a second Junior Day of the month, bringing in current high school juniors (class of 2016) from around the nation for a visit to campus and a chance to get to know the Tigers coaching staff.
Among the visitors this past weekend were the three highest-rated safeties in the class of 2016, all hailing from Southeast Texas: No. 1 Brandon Jones (five-star, Nacogdoches, Texas), No. 2 Eric Monroe (five-star, Houston) and No. 3 Deontay Anderson (four-star, Marvel, Texas).
Brandon Jones
Jones is a player considered a high priority for the Tigers heading into 2016 recruiting. The No. 19 player in the 247sports industry composite already has an offer in hand from LSU, and he’s spent time with LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond, one of the most prolific recruiters in the nation.
Jones hasn’t made his list of top choices public yet, but he did tweet out a picture in an LSU jersey during his visit.

Eric Monroe
The 6-foot, 200 pound safety still has in-state school Baylor atop his list, and he plans to visit the Texas Longhorns this weekend. LSU is one of two SEC schools the No. 25 player in the 247sports industry composite is considering, along with South Carolina. He seemed to enjoy his time at LSU.

Perhaps the Tigers have more than football going in their favor; Monroe is apparently fond of Cajun food as well.

Deontay Anderson
Following his visit to LSU, Anderson tweeted out his top-10 choices list. The list was surprisingly heavy on out-of-state programs for the No. 38 overall prospect in the 247 composite.

Texas and Texas A&M will no doubt duke it out for Anderson’s services, but LSU will likely remain on his radar thanks to the prospect of early playing time, with Jalen Mills heading into his last year of eligibility, and the Tigers’ history of developing defensive backs.
