LSU may be ready to sign the best defensive class in the country this February.
Part of that class certainly will be four-star end Rahssan Thornton of Kileen, Texas. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Thornton has been committed to LSU since June 17, and despite widespread interest from the Texas Longhorns and others, intends to honor that commitment.

Thornton rates as the 16th-best weakside defensive end in the country, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s part of a sweltering defensive class that already includes 10 four- or five-star players, led by the nation’s No. 2 cornerback in Saivion Smith.
Uncommitted players like five-star defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence (Monroe, La.) and four-star cornerback Kristian Fulton could make LSU’s class even stronger on that side of the ball.
The offensive side needs work, with the future of coordinator Cam Cameron in doubt. Quarterback Feleipe Franks, rated No. 5 in the country among pro-style signal-callers, already has flipped to Florida. In contrast to the 10 four- or five-star defensive players currently committed to the Tigers, the offense claims just three.
