A day after lifting the suspension, interim head coach Ed Orgeron announced Thursday that he expects DL Davon Godchaux will play this weekend against Missouri.

The junior had been initially charged with domestic abuse following an argument with his girlfriend — although the charges have since been dropped.
Godchaux’s presence within the starting lineup is massive on a number of fronts. Not only is he a three-year starter, but Godchaux — along with Arden Key — helps to form one of the most potent defensive line one-two punches within the SEC.
Orgeron was effusive in his praise of the big defensive lineman during the Wednesday SEC teleconference:
“Davon is an excellent young man. I’ve coached him for a couple of years now. He’ll return to the team today. We’ll take it day-by-day and we’ll make sure we have all the information available before we make any other decision, but he will be with the team today.”
