LSU expected to offer DC position to Oklahoma’s Mike Stoops

Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops will interview for the same position at LSU, reports News9 out of Oklahoma City.
News9’s Dean Blevins, citing sources, reports LSU head coach Les Miles will offer the job to Stoops at a 6 p.m. CT meeting in Dallas. Blevins reports if offered, Stoops will likely take a few days to mull the decision.
Miles is looking to replace departed defensive coordinator John Chavis, who left earlier this week for SEC West rival Texas A&M.
FootballScoop is reporting that Sooners head coach Bob Stoops told his staff they were free to look for work elsewhere, though that reportedly does not apply to his brother.

Blevins reports that Bob Stoops is expected to make multiple coaching changes after a disappointing 8-5 season, though it is believed that does not apply to Mike.
Stoops reportedly would make between $1-$1.1 million annually at LSU, a significant raise from his current $856,400 salary in Norman.
In his three seasons with Oklahoma, Stoops vaulted the Sooner defense to the top of the Big 12 but took a step back in 2014 due to a wealth of youth and inexperience. Most of the unit will return in 2015.
The question now is whether its coordinator will.
