LSU played far from its most complete game on Saturday night against Texas A&M. The Tigers also saw one of their most notable streaks snapped.
Previously, the Tigers had won 104 consecutive games in which they led by at least 10 points in the first half of the contest. That was hardly the case in the 38-23 loss to the Aggies that marked just the second fall of the season for head coach Brian Kelly’s team.
The Tigers led 17-7 over the Aggies in College Station at the end of the first 2 quarters of action. It was a hot start for LSU, which scored 10 of those points in the first quarter. But things went awry in the second half when Texas A&M outscored LSU by a large margin, putting 14 points on the scoreboard in the third quarter and 17 more points In the fourth quarter.
The Tigers managed a mere 6 points in the fourth quarter, meaning the Aggies outdid them by some 25 points in what can only be described as a complete collapse for an LSU team that came out of the gate looking much different than the one it finished the game as. Injuries didn’t help the Tigers, either, as they lost two key players in guard Garrett Dellenger and wide receiver CJ Daniels early on.
LSU will have a chance to get back on the right track as it faces Alabama on Nov. 9.
LSU had the longest active win streak when leading by 10+ points at the half snapped last night by A&M at 104 straight games.
