LSU just experienced the most expensive loss of the 2017 college football season

The LSU Tigers faced a ton of criticism after losing to Troy 24-21 at home Saturday night.
The football game wasn’t the only thing the Tigers lost out on. Besides losing to a lesser opponent in “Death Valley,” LSU also forfeited quite a significant investment.
LSU paid Troy $985,000 to visit Baton Rouge this season and do battle with the Tigers. For the Trojans, it was worth the money. That figure is significant for multiple reasons, among them, it was the most a school has paid in 2017 to have an opponent travel to their campus and hand the home team a loss.

Rutgers paid E. Michigan $860K
