LSU backup offensive tackle Jevonte Domond was arrested on Monday on charges of felony domestic abuse battery with strangulation, according to arrest records from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department.
According to a report from The Advocate (Baton Rouge, La.), Domond was arrested after a fight with his fiancée. Domond allegedly grabbed the woman by her neck from behind while she was tending to their newborn child, causing her to begin to black out, slammed her down onto a couch and bit her on the hip. Domond’s fiancée allegedly pepper sprayed him multiple times.
The woman drove herself to a police station, where she reported the charges. Domond was booked on Monday afternoon and remains in custody. According to the report from The Advocate, Domond denies the charges and says his fiancée pulled a knife on him.
The 6-foot-6, 310 pound Domond, who transferred to LSU from Glendale Community College in Arizona last year, was expected to be a reserve offensive lineman for the Tigers this fall. He appeared in one game last year.
Domond has been suspended from the team, and Les Miles has reportedly reached out to him.
