Once LSU parted ways with offensive coordinator Matt Canada after only one year, Steve Ensminger was the favorite to land the job.
Canada and coach Ed Orgeron had their differences and their clashes this year, and it proved to be too much.
On Wednesday, the Tigers made Ensminger’s promotion official, announcing the decision on Twitter:

Ensminger was actually replaced by Canada prior to the 2017 season after serving in the role during the final eight games of the 2016 season.
Ensminger knows LSU’s offense and what Coach O wants done, so it’s likely he’ll avoid the same conflicts Canada had with the head coach.
Will that harmony lead to more wins? That remains to be seen, but if it doesn’t, Coach O could find himself out of a job next season.
