Dale Brown, a four-time SEC Coach of the Year, may have just received one of his greatest honors in coaching.
Leadership at LSU has agreed to name the basketball court after him, Wilson Alexander of The Advocate reported.
Brown burst on the scene at LSU with the 1972-73 team that upset No. 3 Memphis State in the home opener, and went on to win 14 games as the Tigers played above expectations. The team was nicknamed “The Hustlers” and Brown earned his first Coach of the Year honor after that season, according to his LSU bio.
The Tigers won 4 SEC titles under Brown and only Adolph Rupp and Joe B. Hall at Kentucky won more SEC titles. His 448-301 record with 238 wins in regular season SEC play, put him second behind only Rupp in wins in the league. He was only the third SEC coach to coach 25 years as a head coach in the league.
