LSU offensive tackle Toby Weathersby will not return for the Tigers next season.
Weathersby, who was a junior this past season, announced via Twitter that he is leaving school early for the 2018 NFL Draft.
“The past three years of my college experience have been great,” he said in part. “Football has matured me and molded me into the young man some of you know me as now. … For the fans; thank you for being such great people throughout my time here.”
The Houston native has been a starter in all three years of his college career. He played in a total of 31 games for the Tigers, and while he was a natural tackle, his versatility allowed him to play multiple spots on the offensive line.
“Coaches prepared for Weathersby’s departure, signing four offensive linemen during the early period last month,” a report from Ross Dellenger of The Advocate said Monday.
Weathersby is projected by Walter Football as one of the nation’s Top 20 draft-eligible offensive tackles.
