LSU running back Leonard Fournette is questionable for Saturday’s game against Southern Miss, interim coach Ed Orgeron announced during his press conference Monday.

“I don’t know if he’s going to play this week,” Orgeron said. “I think he’s going to attempt to do…. I talked to Jack (Marucci), he’s going to do some things this week. He’s getting better. I would list him as questionable right now.”

Fournette re-injured his ankle against Auburn in Week 4 and sat out during the Tigers’ win over Missouri in Week 5. Last week, Orgeron told SiriusXM College Sports Nation he expected the junior to miss the Tigers’ Week 6 matchup against Florida, which was eventually postponed due to the threat of Hurricane Matthew in Gainesville.

Fournette currently has 386 yards and two touchdowns on 67 attempts in 2016. The junior recorded 3,373 yards during his three seasons at LSU, which is 1,184 shy of Kevin Faulk’s school record.
