LSU is gearing up for a matchup against Baylor in the Texas Bowl. Ahead of that bowl game, the Tigers have revealed what uniform combination they’ll be sporting.

The Tigers will wear the white, purple, and white combination. The Tigers are the home team in the Texas Bowl, but the bowl is responsible for assigning jersey colors and home teams have to wear dark, as opposed to the Tigers’ traditional home whites.

The Tigers felt the need to explain this rule in a follow-up tweet due to the team receiving blowback from fans for deviating away from the classic white home jerseys at times. In the team’s last home game of the season, purple jerseys were worn instead of white, which didn’t sit well with some fans. The Tigers wore their gold jerseys in the penultimate home game.

Purple jerseys were only worn one other time in 2024- against UCLA in Week 4. LSU paired the purple jerseys with yellow helmets and pants in that game, however.

Even though this isn’t the typical home look, this is still a sharp-looking combination.

On the field, the 8-4 Tigers are taking on the 8-4 Baylor Bears. This will be the first meeting between these teams since the 1985 Liberty Bowl. Overall, these teams have played 11 times with the Tigers winning 8 of those contests.

The 2024 season started off promising for the Tigers and an appearance in the College Football Playoff seemed likely. However, the team lost 3 games in a row after starting the season 6-1.

The Tigers and Bears will kick off from NRG Stadium on New Year’s Eve at 3:30 p.m. ET.
