School officials announced an attendance of 100,388 at LSU’s home opener, setting a new school record in newly renovated Tiger Stadium. It was the first game with six-figure attendance in the stadium’s history, as the capacity was bumped up thanks to the seats added in the south end zone.

LSU did fall short of selling out against Sam Houston State, falling about 2,000 short of the stadium’s new capacity of 102,321. The stadium began to empty out after halftime, with the Tigers staked to a 35-0 lead after two quarters.
