Texas Tech wide receiver Devin Lauderdale has been suspended for the Texas Bowl against LSU, the school announced Thursday.

Lauderdale has 43 catches for 639 yards and four touchdowns. He had the second most receptions and yards for the Red Raiders this season.

His suspension, per a Texas Tech release, is “due to a failure to uphold Texas Tech Athletic Department Student-Athlete Expectations.” The release said he would have the opportunity to return to the team in 2016.

It is undoubtedly a big loss for Texas Tech head into the bowl game against LSU on Dec. 29 in Houston.

The Red Raiders though will still have their main weapon in wide receiver Jakeem Grant. LSU’s secondary though can likely hone in on stopping him even more. Grant caught 80 passes for 1,143 yards and seven touchdowns. He averages 95.2 yards per game. Grant and Lauderdale together account for 38.1 percent of Texas Tech’s passing yards this year.
