LSU true freshman running back Caden Durham has made quite the case for himself in Saturday’s road contest against South Carolina.
The Tigers, to this point in the season, haven’t exactly looked like a team that has a top, clear-cut running back who serves as the pure workhorse. It’s been more so a running back by committee type of situation at the position.
But Durham has turned a lot of heads in LSU’s back-and-forth matchup against South Carolina that’s shaping up to be a shootout after the Tigers came back from a 17-0 deficit. Durham is currently nearing the century-mark as one of LSU’s most important players in the contest, totaling 8 carries for 84 yards with 2 touchdowns.
Durham played out his high school career at Duncanville in Duncanville, Texas, rated as a 4-star recruit by the 247Sports composite rankings, listed as the No. 6 running back, No. 20 overall prospect in the state of Texas and the No. 124 player in the nation for the Class of 2024.
A positive for LSU today: The emergence of four-star true freshman running back Caden Durham.
Had just four carries through LSU’s first two games. Today vs. South Carolina so far: Five carries, 61 yards and two touchdowns.

How he continues to progress at the college level will be something to watch, but there’s no question he’s one of the biggest bright spots LSU has right now.
LSU trails South Carolina, 30-29 at the top of the fourth quarter.
