LSU’s B.J. Ojulari and Jack Bech react to Max Johnson’s departure, look forward to matchup

Max Johnson’s transfer from LSU to Texas A&M was one of the more noteworthy storylines of the offseason, and his name came up on Monday at SEC Media Days.
LSU pass rusher B.J. Ojulari noted that he looks forward to getting after Johnson when the teams meet on Nov. 26.
“Max is one of my good friends. He was a roommate of mine. I support Max’s decision. He felt like he needed to leave, and that’s what he did,” Ojulari said. “I definitely look forward to a chance to hopefully get to sack him.”
Added LSU WR Jack Bech, “Me and Max had a really good relationship. I haven’t talked much to him since he left. Not because of ill will or spite but because he’s doing his own thing and I’m doing mine. Max is a very talented quarterback.”
Interestingly, in the teams’ matchup last season, Johnson hit Jaray Jenkins with a 28-yard scoring pass down the right sideline with 20 seconds left, and LSU knocked off Texas A&M 27-24 to become bowl eligible.
Johnson last season was named the Tigers’ starting quarterback following an injury to Myles Brennan before the season. He played in 12 games in 2021 and threw for 2,814 yards and 27 touchdowns with just 6 interceptions.
