LSU had a less than ideal season.
There were hopes and aspirations of a national title. And on paper, it looked like the Tigers had the tools to make it happen.
Anyone in Baton Rouge would agree that LSU underachieved. But Les Miles is staying on board with a new chip on his shoulder.
Here are LSU’s top 5 returning players:
1. RB Leonard Fournette: There was a time earlier in the season when Fournette looked unstoppable. He finished the season with 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns. There was speculation that Fournette would sit out the 2016 season, but that isn’t going to happen. He has the chance to win the Heisman Trophy next year.
2. WR Malachi Dupre: If Dupre had a stable quarterback, he would have had more impressive statistics. He finished the season with 698 yards and six TDs.
3. Safety Jamal Adams: Although picked on at times, there’s no denying his playmaking ability. Adams was named to the Second Team All-SEC squad after recording 64 tackles and four interceptions. He is poised for a breakout season in 2016.
4. CB Tra’ Davious White: Another defensive back with a ton of potential, White didn’t post stellar numbers because opposing quarterbacks avoided him. White was also named to the Second Team All-Sec team.
5. LB Kendell Beckwith: He struggled at times during his first year as a starter, but has the chance to shine in 2016. Beckwith flashed promise in the bowl game against Texas Tech, recording 2.5 sacks and eight total tackles.
