Luther Burden III was not selected during Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

The former Mizzou playmaker was considered a potential Day 1 pick in the lead-up to the draft, but it ended up being a quiet night for wide receivers. Only Tetairoa McMillan, Matthew Golden and Emeka Egbuka were picked during the first round.

Still, it was a disappointing result for Burden was he was hoping to become Mizzou’s first wide receiver to be picked in Round 1 since Jeremy Maclin in 2009. In the wake of being left undrafted on Thursday night, Burden posted a photo of him conducting a midnight workout at Missouri’s practice facility on Thursday night:

Burden figures to be one of the early picks on Day 2. ESPN lists Burden as the third-best wide receiver available to begin Round 2 behind Iowa State’s Jayden Higgins and Ole Miss’s Tre Harris. However, some evaluators do have Burden as the best-available pass catcher going into Friday.

Burden’s best season with the Tigers came in 2023 when he caught 86 passes for 1,212 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Round 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft begins at 7 p.m. ET on Friday night.
