Mac Jones weighs in on Nick Saban’s affinity for ‘deez’ jokes

At this point, it’s well known that Alabama head coach Nick Saban enjoys a good “deez nuts” joke. Several former and current Crimson Tide players have spoken out in recent weeks about Saban’s favorite punchline.
However, a recent Alabama quarterback admitted maybe it’s time for Saban to get some fresh material.
“I think it’s kind of his thing. He’s been doing it for a while. I think he maybe needs to get some new ones,” current New England Patriots QB Mac Jones said Monday during an appearance on “Merloni and Fauria” on WEEI.
Jones probably got to hear plenty of Saban’s jokes, considering he spent 4 years at Alabama. He was a backup for the first 2 1/2 seasons, so maybe he heard even more, as he was spending plenty of time on the sideline during games.
Considering the success that Saban and Jones had together, it probably didn’t bother the quarterback too much that his coach’s jokes may have gotten a bit stale. In 2020, the Crimson Tide went 13-0 and won the national championship, which led to Jones going on to get taken in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
After Jones’ latest comments, maybe Saban will start thinking up some more “deez” jokes, so that he can keep this running for even longer.
