Former LSU safety Major Burns is getting another shot at the NFL. Following a spectacular season in the UFL with the Houston Gamblers, Burns has signed with the Miami Dolphins and will compete for a roster spot this preseason.
As alluded to, Burns is fresh off a simply massive season in the UFL. He earned All-UFL honors and led the league in interceptions (4) across 9 games played. Burns also totaled 47 tackles with 4 pass breakups and a stellar 90.1 defensive grade per PFF.
Burns’ chapter with the Dolphins is not his first attempt at playing in the NFL. The former Tiger signed a UDFA deal with the Chicago Bears last year, but failed to make the 53-man roster amid an experienced Chicago secondary. Shortly after, Burns signed a deal with the Gamblers in March of 2026.
Burns played a total of 5 seasons in college football, first for Georgia then LSU after transferring following his redshirt freshman season. Across his 4 years in Baton Rouge, Burns totaled 203 combined tackles with 11 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 2 interceptions and 9 pass deflections.
