Malaki Starks was a notable recruit for Georgia not only because he was a 5-star prospect, but he was also from nearby Jefferson, Georgia, a relatively short drive from Athens.

So Georgia fans were no doubt excited to see the young safety make an incredible interception early in his college debut on Saturday against Oregon. Starks made an athletic interception by twisting his body around, and lunging out for the ball, as an Oregon wide receiver reached for the ball near the sideline.

Starks and the defense helped Georgia get off to a strong start, after the Bulldogs got an early touchdown catch by Ladd McConkey to go up 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Starks in high school was a two-way player, and as a prospect, he was considered an athlete. He was ranked as the No. 1 athlete prospect nationally, the No. 2 prospect in Georgia. He got big reviews during fall camp, as Starks appears to have made a smooth transition to college football.
