Malik Hornsby, Arkansas transfer QB, reveals he has heard from 2 SEC schools since entering portal
Malik Hornsby might not have been the answer for Arkansas at quarterback, but that doesn’t mean he’s bound to play outside of the SEC in 2023.
Hornsby said in an interview with 247Sports that since entering the transfer portal, he’s already been in contact with 2 SEC programs. Florida and Missouri, both of which could be looking to upgrade under center, have reportedly spoken to the former dual-threat Hogs quarterback about potentially joining the roster.
Other programs linked to Hornsby include Baylor, Texas State, Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, Grambling State, and Nebraska. Hornsby, a native of Missouri City, TX, previously had a relationship with Cornhuskers coach Matt Rhule during his time at Baylor.

Known for his record-setting track speed, multiple outlets have suggested that Hornsby should consider switching positions to better his chances of playing. During his time in Fayetteville, Hornsby worked receiver drills in practice, but has since made his intentions clear that he hopes to continue playing quarterback at his next school.
“I know I can go play receiver and go to the league, and at the end of the day the end goal is to go to the NFL,” Hornsby said via 247Sports. “(But) my heart is at quarterback, and I think I’ve got a shot with all the work I’ve put in, the countless hours, the countless days, the sleepless nights.”
