Marcus Sasser will return to the court without any minute restrictions as Houston takes on Auburn in Birmingham on Saturday. That is per a report from Stadium’s Jeff Goodman as of Saturday afternoon.

The guard had stated on Friday that he would be playing and this report confirmed that assessment on Saturday. According to reports, Sasser could have come back in the first round, but the Houston coaching staff held him out.

It’s good news for Houston fans, but it may present a stumbling block for the Tigers as they face the No. 1 seeded Cougars. Auburn barely escaped a late comeback bid from Iowa on Thursday in order to move on to the Round of 32.

Houston is a pick by 20% of brackets to win the NCAA Tournament. Having one of their star guards return to the court is a big advantage for the Round of 32.

Sasser, who is Houston’s leading scorer, was absent in the AAC Championship due to a groin strain. He is averaging 16.7 ppg for the Cougars this season.

Houston and Auburn will face off at 7:10 p,m EST from Birmingham.
