Kentucky started their season off with a win, but the final score was much closer than fans would like to see.

The Wildcats scraped by Southern Mississippi by a score of 24-17 and will move on to play Eastern Kentucky Saturday afternoon in the home opener. The season opener did not go exactly according to plan, and freshman WR Lynn Bowden appears unhappy with his playing time in the game.

According to Jack Pilgrim with Kentucky Sports Radio, Bowden sent a number of questionable tweets following the game Saturday:

Lynn Bowden made his much-anticipated debut against Southern Miss yesterday evening, but failed to receive any targets at receiver or reps as a kick returner. Last night following the victory, the star freshman sent (and deleted) a tweet saying he got “played.”

Head coach Mark Stoops was asked about the tweets during his Monday press conference, and Stoops claims he has no issue with Bowden.

Tyler Thompson also with Kentucky Sports Radio shared Stoops’ comments:

“No issue. We’ll continue to manage our players. That’s what they pay me to do and we’ll be fine,” said Stoops. “Lynn’s a good kid, works hard. It’s not uncommon in general. I’ve been in a lot of places with some very, very, very talented young men and the competitive nature comes out in kids sometimes and we’ll be fine.”

Fans will have to wait and see if Bowden can climb the depth chart and contribute in his freshman season.
