Mark Stoops gave his thoughts on Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner at Wednesday’s SEC teleconference.
Turner has been a topic of discussion since his controversial hit that injured LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels in the Crimson Tide’s 42-28 win over the Tigers.
Stoops said the junior is a “guy that can wreck a game very quickly” as Kentucky prepares for a home contest against No. 8 Alabama this weekend.
“So he’s a guy that you have to account for, we’ve got to be very smart with our protections, quarterback’s got to be smart and holding to the football and making sure we’re not holding on to it too long,” Stoops said.
This means Wildcats QB Devin Leary will have to play smart with the football. So far this season, the senior has 1,956 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
Despite success from Leary, Stoops said that Turner is “a guy that can change (the game plan) in a hurry.”
“So yeah, I think you’ve got to be very conscientious of where he’s at and trying to have a great plan for him,” Stoops said.
The matchup between Kentucky (6-3) and Alabama (8-1) is set to begin at Noon Saturday on ESPN.
