Watson’s weight was a storyline for 4 years in Gainesville.
Watson’s 247Sports recruiting profile lists a weight of 380 pounds. He was much heavier when he enrolled at UF in January 2021.
Per former Florida coach Dan Mullen, Watson weighed 440 pounds at the time of his arrival. He first practiced at 432 pounds in February 2021.
Under Mullen and former strength coach Nick Savage, Watson checked in at 400 pounds before the 2021 season. It would be the lowest listed weight on his UF bio.
Playing for Billy Napier, Watson gained weight each of the last 3 years. Watson was listed at 415 pounds for the 2022 season, his sophomore year. The number went up to 435 pounds in 2023 and 449 pounds last season.
Watson’s weight did not stop him from being a productive player. He finished his Florida career appearing in 51 games. He recorded 63 total tackles with 3 TFLs, including 1.5 sacks.
Memorable moments for Watson include a fumble recovery, “picking up” Tulane’s QB on a stop and carrying the ball on offense.
