Matt Corral discusses relationship with Manning family, meeting with Giants

The New York Giants won 2 Super Bowls with a former Ole Miss quarterback. Some wonder if the franchise might look toward Oxford and draft a former Rebel QB in 2022.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Matt Corral was asked if he has met with the Giants. The club drafted quarterback Daniel Jones with the No. 6 pick in 2019, but it appears they are giving Corral a look.
“Yeah, I had an informal with the Giants yesterday, just talking Xs and Os, them trying to see how much knowledge I have of it,” Corral said during his media availability. “It went really well, I think.”
From there, Corral focused on the other part of the reporter’s question about his relationship the Manning family. Corral mentioned Eli, Cooper and the most talked-about recruit in college football, Arch Manning.
“My relationship with Eli, I actually hung out with his family quite a bit, towards the beginning of my career at Ole Miss and toward the end when Arch was visiting and all that,” Corral said. “I was a big part of that, just being around and being around the family, being around Cooper a lot, honestly. The time I had with them that the school recorded us, that was kind of a surprise. I had no idea he was going to be there, so that took me by surprise. It was just really cool to be around a legend like that.”

Corral is also plenty familiar with the Manning family as a Manning Passing Academy alum.

We’re a couple of months away from finding out where Corral lands in the NFL, and likely even further out from learning Arch Manning’s college destination. We’ll see how things play out.
