Matthew Stafford has accomplished a lot during his NFL career, and he’s done a lot for the Los Angeles Rams in his brief time there, winning a Super Bowl in 2021.

The former Georgia star doesn’t want out of Los Angeles. But according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, the 37-year-old veteran has been given permission by the Rams to speak with other teams about his player value. Stafford’s agent can now get a gauge on Stafford’s value, but not because they are angling for him to leave the Rams via a potential trade.

Instead, this is all so the team and Stafford can get a better grip on his value outside the Rams, which would potentially pave the way for the player and the club to get a contract done. Stafford and the Rams want to use the outside NFL world, namely other teams, to help them nail down a deal that would keep Stafford in Los Angeles. All Stafford and the Rams want is to better know the market for Stafford outside Los Angeles.

Before his illustrious NFL career, Stafford starred at Georgia from 2006-08. He was a first-team All-American and a second-team All-SEC selection in 2008 before being the No. 1 overall pick in the draft in 2009 by the Detroit Lions, with whom he spent 12 years from 2009-20 before heading to Los Angeles.

And that is apparently where he wants to stay.
