The Texas A&M Aggies knocked off the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, 27-10, behind a strong performance by the defense and quarterback Max Johnson.

It was a defensive struggle in the first half, but Johnson sparked the team with a strong performance in the second half.

Johnson, who came into the game in the second half after starting quarterback Conner Weigman was injured late in the first half.

Johnson finished the day 7-of-11 for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns. One of the touchdowns was to his brother Jake Johnson.

With today’s college football revolving so much about the transfer portal, Johnson said leaving was never anything he thought about.

“Never,” Johnson said. “This is where I want to be. I am getting an awesome degree here, and I love the coaches, players and the university. This is where I want to be.”

The No. 1 receiver for the Aggies on Saturday was Ainias Smith, who finished the game with 5 catches and 78 yards. When asked about Johnson not considering to transferring, Smith said it’s something that motivates him.

The status of Weigman is currently unknown, but Jimbo Fisher after the game said that the x-rays were negative.

The Aggies will be back in action next weekend as they take on the Arkansas Razorbacks.
