Maxwell Hairston comments on serving as unofficial hype man for 2025 NFL Draft
Maxwell Hairston was one of the more memorable players during Day 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft.
It wasn’t just because of where he got picked — No. 30 to the Buffalo Bills — but rather his demeanor in the green room. Hairston was frequently seen congratulating other draftees throughout the night, so much so that he was asked about the lead-up to finally hearing his name called toward the end of the evening.
“I just stayed positive, stayed happy, congratulated all of my brothers that got their name called before me and I was just so excited to do that,” the former Kentucky cornerback said. “And the fact that I got to hear my name called as well, I don’t care how late it is, it could be 3 a.m. I’ll wait to hear my name. I’m just ecstatic to be a Buffalo Bill and I feel like this is the right place to be.”
Here’s a clip from Hairston’s comments after the draft:

Hairston was projected to be a late first-round pick. He made a huge impact on Kentucky’s secondary while in college mostly thanks to his speed. He’ll look to do the same while playing for a Buffalo Bills team that has legitimate Super Bowl aspirations in 2025-26.
Hairston also became the first Kentucky first-round draft pick since 2021 on Thursday night. Linebacker Jamin Davis was the pick that year, going No. 19 overall to Washington.
